IN THIS LESSON Look into the kaleidoscope and start understanding the many ways people who look up to you might see you.

  1. Think of a direct report, or someone (past or present) who relies on your knowledge and trusts your guidance.

  2. Who is it? Take a minute to close your eyes and bring that person to life in your imagination. Picture them as if they were with you right now. Notice their features, their hair, their face, their clothes, their expressions. When did/do you typically interact?

  3. For each of the following prompts, add the descriptive words you come up with to your self-portrait page.

    • Think about when you met this person. What actions did you take to earn their trust and respect?

    • If that person introduced you to someone new, what words would they use to explain who you are?

    • If that person were to recommend you for a new position, what position would that be?

    • Overall, what words would they use to describe you?

  4. If you asked that person for frank feedback on areas where you could improve, based on their point of view, imagine what they would say. Add these words to your self-portrait.
