IN THIS LESSON Look into the kaleidoscope and start understanding the many ways other people see you.

Think of a leader, past or present, that you reported to and that you trust and respect.

  1. Take a minute to close your eyes (after you read this) and really think about that person. Picture them as if they were with you right now. Notice their features, their hair, their face, their clothes, their expressions. Where do they sit at work? When did you typically interact?

  2. Think about when you met them. How did you come to trust them?

  3. If that person introduced you to someone new, what would they say about you? Write these words around your self-portrait.

  4. If that person were to recommend you for a new position, what position would that be? What words would they use to describe you? Write the job title and the descriptive words around your picture.

  5. If you asked that person for frank feedback on areas where you could improve, based on their point of view, what would they mention? Write these words around your self-portrait.
